Shark NavigatorThe Shark Navigator NV22L bagless vacuum cleaner will exceed your expectations and be a shining light for even the dirtiest of families.

The Shark Navigator NV22L is dead simple to get up and running out of the box. It’s also lightweight and will remove any evidence of the pets being inside.

It also has a powerful 12 amp motor, and it is actually quite easy to empty the canister!

What you will like about the Shark Navigator vacuum?

  • Super-stretch hose with quick-release wand for an extra 12 feet of reach.
  • Dusting brush, crevice tool and longer 24-inch crevice tool for those hard to reach areas.
  • Turbo power brush designed to effectively remove pet hair from stairs and upholstery.
  • Delightfully long 30 foot power cord.
  • This is bagless system so no cost with replacing bags – all you need to do is wash out the filters about twice yearly for average use.

Shark Navigator Vacuum Review

Shark is not often the first brand you think of when you are in the market for new vacuum cleaner. However, they should be considered a serious contender because their products have received favorable reviews on Amazon.com.

At the time of writing the Shark Navigator NV22L had over 600 reviews, 82% of which were with 4 or 5 star recommendations.

The Navigator is equipped with Infinity Technologywhich pulls 99% of dirt and dust away from the filter to make sure that it never becomes blocked to the point of affecting the performance of the vacuum cleaner itself.

There is also a unique dual-motor system which allows the vacuum to easily transition between soft and hard floors. Some will argue that a function where the user is able to adjust the height manually is a better option, but you can look at something like the Hoover Windtunnel T-series Rewind Upright Vacuum Bagless UH70120 if that is your cup of tea.

Overwhelmingly though, most people were perfectly satisfied with the NV22L just how it was and if anything, praised it for being so easy to push over carpet.

Its weight is also low for a vacuum of its size, weighing in at just 15 pounds.

What are others saying about this Shark vacuum?

A lot of current Shark users commented that the machine was extremely simple to set up and use out of the box.

Others will extremely impressed at the operational noise, saying that while vacuum cleaners aren’t the quietest machines in the world, the Shark version was very easy on the ears indeed.

It was quiet enough that one person was able to use it in a townhouse with neighbors either side after 10pm at night. You would obviously need a lot of confidence to be able to do that.

Perhaps the only really problem that people have reported with this vacuum is the bagless dirt collection feature. Emptying a bagless vacuum cleaner isn’t for everyone and it never will be.

M. Hester from Odenton, MD, explains the problem well:

This is is not unique to the Navigator. Any bagless vacuum is an absolute terror when it comes to emptying what you’ve sucked up. Sure it’s easy with the quick emptying dust bin’s but unless you wrap a bag around the bin that dust is going to shoot back into the air.

YOU MUST EMPTY ANY BAGLESS VACUUM OUTSIDE. That is just the only way you can insure not to contaminate the air inside your house with the same stuff your just sucked up.

Remember dirt and dust just doesn’t automatically find the bottom of the bag. It takes the path of least resistance with most of the time is sticking to the top of the bag or near the opening which will clog the whole quickly which will impede the suction power.

That is one of the reasons why I am able to pick up things with my navigator that I can’t pick up with my Eureeka.

Although it goes without saying,, a lot of care must be taken when emptying the bin, and you must ensure that you do it outside.

Horses for courses

Paulina from the United States turned a negative (for some) into a positive when mentioning the lack of any height adjustable feature.

She said that in the absence of any height adjustments, it was one less thing you had to tinker with and even so, the Shark Navigator is designed to work at one height anyway. It does a good job of it too.

In other words, why try and fix something that isn’t broken? Switching between floors and carpets will never be easier and don’t worry, the Navigator won’t simply blow the dust around on a hard floor like some other models.

Conclusion

This vacuum cleaner is fairly simple but highly effective. The Shark Navigator Vacuum hasn’t got all of the bells and whistles of a high-end Dyson, but it does a pretty good job nonetheless and will serve a specific group of people very well.As there is the lack of a true HEPA filtration element, it is probably best suited to people who aren’t really allergic to dust and allergens but still value a clean house, free of dust and/or pet hair.

It won’t be for everyone obviously, the simple fact that the Navigator is bagless will put a lot of people off and rightly so, because it can be a dirty and thankless job to empty the collection bin.
